Okay, folks. I’m hiring. My Associate Producer Harry Go is a quitter and is quitting because he’s a quitter. (He got another job and I wish him all the best. He’s a former Marvel intern and one helluva guy, both personally and professionally.)
His loss may be your gain. Here’s the job description on the Disney Careers site, Monster and on Mediabistro. Please don’t apply through every site. I’m reviewing all applicants myself, so I’ll see the same person applying every way. I’m gonna be buried under these for a while as it is.
Anyway, hit up the job description on one of those sites to get the details. Beyond that, though, I’m looking for a few specific things. I need someone with solid graphic design skills and instincts. We tap the producer to make tons of graphics in my group and I need someone creative, skilled and fast. I need someone who’s good with social media, web trends and emerging tech. Harry sends around lots of emails about jetpacks, so know your jetpacks. I need someone who’s knowledgeable about video. You don’t need to edit video per se, but you’ll be working with our video team on some production, some implementation and other stuff. I need someone who can write and edit, or at least has the capacity to learn. Bonus points if you know AP Style.
Super-duper Marvel knowledge isn’t necessary. I’d rather hire someone who’s just seen a few Marvel movies and never read many comics, but who kicks ass at all the above as opposed to a hardcore Marvel zombie who just wants to work in comics. (This gig is all things Marvel, by the way, not just comics.)
Good luck!
Ryan’s an awesome dude and Marvel is an awesome place, and Marvel’s online presence is awesome as well. Friends, check this out. You are all great writers, editors and graphic designers. The comedy talent pool is multi-talented, indeed.
