CBR’s top 100 is finished and up! Hurrah!
My blurbs got used in Ultimate Spider-Man (#8), Animal Man (#2) and Wolverine & the X-Men (#23). I was really honored to be involved in this this year, as I have read CBR for years. Yeah!
And my own personal top 20 is up over at my comics blog, Digsy Is Comics.

SOPAWe at Thwipster wholeheartedly oppose SOPA as it currently stands and as we understand it. We believe in due process and not a Patriot Act for media companies to take down parts of the internet. You can find out more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop_Online_Piracy_Act
That said…
PiracyIf you know anyone downloading illegal things off the internet, take a moment and tell them to stop being a dick. We don’t need the government and media companies to tell us not to steal. We can actually stop piracy ourselves by not doing it. Yes, it’s true when you torrent Tower Heist you’re not hurting Ben Stiller, BUT you are hurting the person who does Ben Stiller’s makeup day in and day out. So again, don’t be a dick and don’t let your friends be dicks.
Media CompaniesYou’ve got it hard, right? You make all this stuff that people are so ravenous over that they steal it, remix it and share it with everyone they (don’t)know. But hey, you gotta get paid! Guess what? Don’t be a dick. Cut out the DRM, cut out practices like making things unavailable for 30 days on Netflix or iTunes, and cut out going after people celebrating your products. And maybe, just maybe, be a little more human and people will stop thinking of you as an evil empire. People love the stuff you produce. Just not you.
A couple good articles on SOPA & the comic industry:http://graphicpolicy.com/2011/12/24/sopa-and-the-comic-book-industry/ http://www.comicbookbin.com/Marvel_DCComicsSupports_SOPA001.htmlA petition for Marvel to pull out of SOPA: http://twitition.com/ulrd2

I am down with this. I’m also down with Thwipster, which makes it incredibly easy to avoid piracy by purchasing their awesome supply of trades and graphic novels at surprisingly marked down prices. It’s great. SOPA is bad.

Okay, folks. I’m hiring. My Associate Producer Harry Go is a quitter and is quitting because he’s a quitter. (He got another job and I wish him all the best. He’s a former Marvel intern and one helluva guy, both personally and professionally.)

His loss may be your gain. Here’s the job description on the Disney Careers site, Monster and on Mediabistro. Please don’t apply through every site. I’m reviewing all applicants myself, so I’ll see the same person applying every way. I’m gonna be buried under these for a while as it is.

Anyway, hit up the job description on one of those sites to get the details. Beyond that, though, I’m looking for a few specific things. I need someone with solid graphic design skills and instincts. We tap the producer to make tons of graphics in my group and I need someone creative, skilled and fast. I need someone who’s good with social media, web trends and emerging tech. Harry sends around lots of emails about jetpacks, so know your jetpacks. I need someone who’s knowledgeable about video. You don’t need to edit video per se, but you’ll be working with our video team on some production, some implementation and other stuff. I need someone who can write and edit, or at least has the capacity to learn. Bonus points if you know AP Style.

Super-duper Marvel knowledge isn’t necessary. I’d rather hire someone who’s just seen a few Marvel movies and never read many comics, but who kicks ass at all the above as opposed to a hardcore Marvel zombie who just wants to work in comics. (This gig is all things Marvel, by the way, not just comics.)

Good luck!

Ryan’s an awesome dude and Marvel is an awesome place, and Marvel’s online presence is awesome as well. Friends, check this out. You are all great writers, editors and graphic designers. The comedy talent pool is multi-talented, indeed.
