More proof in pictures of Wizard’s ever-changing staff. This has been done before by Sean Collins over at Robot 6, but that was for the further back class of 2006. This is the class of 2008, guys. This picture was taken on October 31st, 2008. And look at it. Everyone, gone, except Justin Aclin (one of the only holdovers from the class of 2006 as well). As someone who loves stats and facts, it’s pretty crazy to note that an entire generation of employees are now gone. I was at Wizard for a year, but now Justin and (literally) one or maybe two other people currently employed really remember me ever being there. That’s weird. I could even have put a big X over the background since even the old Wizard building has been “laid off.” Operations now run out of the company’s teeny-tiny Manhattan offices and not the old (dare I say “iconic”?) Wizard Building. That place had so much history and character, it was easily the Millennium Falcon of workspaces.
This was such a fun day. Summer organized a Halloween costume contest in her constant attempts at making the workplace fun, which she mostly succeeded at. This was a really dark time for the company (the holiday season was looming, which lead to a big, epic, scrooge-tastic FAIL) so to have a day of fun was…well, fun. We all dressed up and also went to the mall like this to do some shopping for Wizard World Texas. Such a fun time. That year now seems more and more like a dream, the further I get from it. Like, that really happened?
But I’m really posting this to show off my costume (the original yellow and black X-Men school uniform), which won first place. Guys, I’m awesome.
