I always do two lists, one of songs actually released in 2009 and one of songs from previous years that I heard for the first time in 2009.
Get ready to disagree with all of this.

5. Oasis “Don’t Believe the Truth” (2005)
After 2002’s “Heathen Chemistry,” I honestly wrote Oasis off. I discovered the Strokes, the White Stripes, the Kinks, Gang of Four, the Futureheads and much more in that downtime. My musical taste had changed dramatically and, as far as I was concerned, Oasis was a thing of the past. Then the band released this album...
Got Mine in 2009
What a year. Let’s do this.
I got my karaoke on this year.
I got my near death experience during a Daddy show.
I got my Gulch on, and on, and on.
I got my spandex on and had the best Halloween costume ever.
I got my vampire groove on.
I got my Ruckus on and had a totally killer Cage Match.
I got my Features on and rocked out.
I got my pool party fix in Long Island.
I got my...

10. The Apples in Stereo “The Discovery Of a World Inside the Moone” (2000)
The Apples entered the new millennium with “Go,” this album’s opening track, sounding more jubilant and confident than ever. The production is more complex, fuller and poppier. The lyrics are more socially conscious and happening (strictly in a 1970s type way). Just a solid album through and...

Top 50 Albums of 2000-2009, part 1
This was my first decade being a music lover. I came into the decade with a holy triumvirate of favorite bands including Oasis, Sheryl Crow and Everclear and I’ve come out the other side with a new quadrumvirate of Oasis, The Strokes, The Features and The Apples in Stereo. The latter will be reflected on this list. I’ve also become a much bigger fan of music made pre-2000s, which...
Buffy 6.17: Normal Again

And I don’t buy the end of the episode. It’s not imaginary. And I think if you polled the writers room almost everyone would agree. Hal argues that because it’s a TV show it doesn’t matter if it’s a TV show that takes place in someone’s mind. But I think it adds a layer of meta to it if you decide that’s the case.
Again, I continue to love Willow’s arc because it...
Buffy 6.4: Flooded
buffywatch:
I know it’s only four episodes in but I feel like I’m still waiting for the season to start. The premiere had, I guess, action but everyone ever knew that Buffy was going to come back to life and it just felt like biding our time waiting for that to happen. And you know what? I don’t want to see Buffy deal with house stuff or raising Dawn stuff. Once again, the fun of Buffy was...
Buffy 6.4: Flooded
buffywatch:
And that’s another point where the show feels like any other TV show. Buffy has always been good at being one of the only TV shows that writes couples interestingly when they’re together and doesn’t NEED to create drama. But now it feels like they’re creating drama between Anya and Xander just to give them something to do.
Yep, that’s exactly how I felt during this period....
